Senator James Orengo has indicated that it is easier to impeach Deputy President William Ruto than it is to with a criminal case in court.
Speaking in an interview with Citizen TV News Night, Orengo threw Ruto’s integrity into question citing his role in corruption scandals since Jubilee came to power in 2013.
“There is a long list of graft dealings where he has been implicated in. He has even admitted some, like the Muteshi Land and Weston Hotel sagas” Orengo said
Orengo further stated that Ruto’s action not only undermine the constitution that he swore to protect but also constitutes a great deal of gross misconduct.
“Impeachable offences include insubordination and undermining the authority of constitutional institutions. He has been doing that lately by fighting the institutions and that can be used to impeach him,” Orengo said.
The political stage in the country has taken a new dimension since the hand-shake, with many Ruto allies condemning Hon. Raila Odinga for what they call an attempt to tear down Jubilee
Their efforts are however turning sour, with Ruto slowly being rendered the lost sheep that is hindering the president’s war on graft.
Ruto recently called for the directorate of criminal investigations to be shown the door over claims that the mandate of fighting graft lies with the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission
