The country is in shock after 19 year old Peter Kipkirui pleaded guilty to killing his father using a machete in 2017.
Appearing before Kabrnet High court, Peter Kipkirui told judge Edwin Muriithi that he committed the crime after his father tried to stop him from fencing his piece of land.
Kipkirui explained that the incident took place in Seguton Location, in Koibatek, Baringo county on June 11, 2017.
The 19 year old told the court that he was holding a machete in his arms when the argument over the piece of land heated up.
The teenager then chased his father and as he run after him with the machete, the old man tripped and fell down. That’s when he finished the job.
“I agree that I committed the offence on the mentioned date,” the accused told the court as he pleaded to the elders to forgive him.
Kipkirui’s lawyers asked the court to show leniency to the young man claiming it was an accident.
Kipkirui has been remanded at Nakuru GK prison. The ruling on his case will be made on April 14th.
