Key Grievances:

  • Discrimination by SHA: KUCO alleges that SHA has excluded clinical officers from providing services by refusing to recognize facilities and practitioners licensed by the Clinical Officers Council. The Star
  • Unfulfilled Return-to-Work Agreement (RTWA): The union points to the government’s failure to implement provisions of the RTWA signed in 2024, which ended a previous strike. Unmet commitments include promotions, conversion to permanent employment, and comprehensive medical cover. Capital FM

Demands:

  • Immediate recognition and empanelment of health providers licensed by the Clinical Officers Council.
  • Reinstatement of pre-authorization rights for clinical officers.
  • Full implementation of the 2024 RTWA before January 19, 2025.

KUCO warns that failure to address these issues will result in a nationwide strike, potentially disrupting healthcare services across Kenya.
