CBK Accused of negligence in printing new bank notes

City Lawyer Donald Kipkorir has accused the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) of negligence and failure to listen to his advice while printing the new bank notes.

In a tweet targeting the Central Bank managers, Kipkorir claims that earlier in the year, he pleaded that in printing the new currency, polymer substrate be used.

In his claim, Kipkorir likens the idea to Singapore money which doesn’t tear or get wet and that KICC, Fort Jesus, Mount Kenya and Cheptongei be included.

The new Kenyan bank notes were launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta during the 2019 Madaraka day celebrations that were held in Narok county.
