Police at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) have seized 500kgs of miraa packed as tea leaves.
The consignment is believed to have been headed to the United States and Australia.
This comes barely a week after detectives at JKIA seized 12kgs of heroine packed in two radio speakers. The package then was declared as traditional baskets and sandals headed for Liberia.
Last week, A 2019 International Narcotics Control Strategy Report released by the US Department of State listed Kenya as a leading transit point for regional and international drug traffickers and money laundering activities.
